Anyone know what the Kent Everett's side beding method is? On his website he says it would be shown for the first time at the Healdsburg Guitar Show and that LMI would be involved. I haven't found anything else on his or LMI's site.

Actually, I saw it at ASIA on LMI's table. Actually had lunch with Kent and Robbie one day and we talked about the design of this jig. It is basically a side mold with a few clamp blocks held on with strong springs. This will give a beginner the option of a lower priced bending machine. I think they were bundling the bender and the blanket for around $250. But you might want to ask Chris at LMI to send you some pics of it, and the cost. He was the one at ASIA, so he will know. Good luck!

I was at Kent's shop last week and we were talking about the bending forms. His old forms look like the photo with the silver HVAC tape on the bending surface. His new form looks like the form with the pipes for the center section. He still uses I-Bolts and the wood blocks like you see in the photo.[IMG]useruploads/BarryDudley/2005-08-Barry Dudley38587.644212963

Barry,
The 2nd pic is what I saw at ASIA, but Kent said that LMI had modified his version by putting 2 clamps on both bouts that were held by springs. The middle clamp basically looked like the 1st picture.

Barry and Tracy,

Thanks. I had no idea what Everett had come up with. I've seen similar sidebenders on several other sites. I like it...nice simple approach.

Not to get off topic but John Hall at Blues Creek Guitars sells side benders with and without heating blankets and the price is in the same neighborhood. I got mine with a bulb heater and haven't had trouble bending anything yet. Everything I've ever received from John has been great fit and finish.

Cheers!

John

I might add that the "new improved" form shown above looks almost identical to what John Hall sells, and one of those in your choice of pattern comes with John's bender. I have one of John's units and it's a very professionally made tool.

Kent even removes the pipes when not in use to make the forms easier to store. I glue my pipe in with JB Weld. That was John Kinniard's idea and it work great

Kent also has one with a threaded screw rod for the waistlike a fox bender without the whole frame. Barry Dudley38588.587337963
